CM calls for human resource development
ITANAGAR Mar 17: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today advocated for generating human resources through quality education in order to pave way for the youths for gainful employment. The Chief Minister appreciated the Church institutions for supplementing towards human resource development.
He was speaking as chief guest on the inaugural ceremony of the Bishop house here near Pappu Nalah this afternoon. Tuki threw light on his government’s recent initiative for adopting PPP mode in order to mitigate the gap of infrastructure, improvement of social sectors and getting private investments to improve the livelihood of the people. The CM emphasized for outsourcing schools and colleges through PPP mode to NGOs and organizations, those who have proved running such institutions successfully and impressively.
“My dream is to bring the standard of development that I have witnessed in my recent visit to Canada for my state and for this I appeal my fellow citizens to join hands and work in unison with missionary zeal”, Tuki asserted while sharing his experience of Toronto and Ottawa visit. “I know it is a Herculean task but not impossible. Together we can do it”, Tuki emphatically said.
Applauding the role of Christian Missionaries in improving the education scenario of the state by opening numerous education institutions, bettering the health services, instilling discipline among the tribal societies, the Chief Minister hinted at providing Government aid to such noble causes. The CM also appreciated the Christian Missionaries for their yeomen service rendered to the people of this state in the social and spiritual fields.
Later, the chief minister announced to enhance the grant provided to the religious institutions that are providing noble services to the mankind, particularly to the people of the state.

Member of Parliament Takam Sanjoy appreciated the Christian community for bringing awareness and instilling the knowledge of sin and virtue among the people of Arunachal Pradesh. Besides the health and education sectors, the missionaries have brought a revolution in social sector too in the state, Sanjoy claimed. He commended the quality education imparted to the students in missionary schools and the health services provided in their hospitals.
Endorsing the recent initiative of the Tuki Government for adopting PPP mode for a sustainable development of the state, the MP requested the state government to avail services of successful NGOs and Missionaries for outsourcing the Education and Health Sectors as they have already proved their capability in those spheres.
Rt. Rev Dr. John Thomas Kattrukudiyil, the Bishop of Itanagar Diocese, Father Jacob Mattathilany, Vicar General of Diocese and Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil spoke on the occasion, among others.
Tuki was accompanied by Health Minister Atum Welly, Parliamentary Secretary Health Nido Pavitra, host of Rev Bishops from all over the Northeast and Fathers, Brothers and sisters of Christian Missionaries during the occasion.
Meanwhile, on way back to Itanagar, Tuki inaugurated a newly constructed 3 star hotel Todo at B Sector here. A grand reception and a cultural programme were other highlight of the programme.
Nurses on stir, threatens mass agitation

ITANAGAR, Mar 17: Mass agitation in the form of tool down or mass leave is looming large as nurses across the state are gearing up for next level of fight against state government for its alleged failure to release allowances as per the 6th CPC. Since the 14th of this month nurses under the banner of Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Arunachal unit is protesting against state government by wearing black badges to register their grievances. The 8 days protest will end on 21st of this month.
Nurses from all categories including ANM, GNM, and LHV are participating in the protest.
The representatives of the nurse had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on February 22 seeking his attention to redress their grievances. But till today they have not heard anything from chief minister’s office in this regard. “We have been trying our best to meet chief minister and tell our grievances. However till today we have not got chance to meet him. We are claiming our rights and are not asking anything in free,” told an agitating nurse. She further added, “Till now we are only protesting by wearing black badges. However if state government keeps on neglecting us, we will be forced to go for bigger agitation in the form of mass leave or tool down strike. That will severely affect government medical across the state. We don’t want to create problem for the people of Arunachal but we cannot bear the ill treatment meted out to us by the authorities.”

ITANAGAR, Mar 17: Annoyed with the lackadaisical attitude of the Govt towards infrastructure development of Govt Primary School, Dikrong Colony, Nirjuli, All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) once again appealed to the state Govt to look into the basic problems of the school at the earliest. The school, established as community school in 2004, was upgraded as Govt primary school in 2007. Though the school is within the Capital Complex, it has been running without necessary school infrastructure, like desk, bench, chair and table etc. since last couple of years, the association said.
Expressing displeasure over Govt’s inaction to provide the school items despite repeated pleas, ANYA wondered what would be the fate of schools in remotest areas, when a seven years old primary school in the state capital still lying in such pathetic condition.

Sensei Tara awarded Black Belt 5th Dan

ITANAGAR, Mar 17: World Karate Federation (WKF) headquartered in Spain has awarded Sensei Likha Tara, president of Arunachal Karate Association, the grade of Black Belt 5th Dan.
The award is in recognition of Tara’s dedication to Karate, passing on his knowledge to others and his outstanding contributions towards development of the sport in Arunachal Pradesh in the last 24 years.
Tara, who has been working with utmost dedication and sincerity for development of the sport in Arunachal Pradesh since 1987, continues to increase his knowledge of karate and to teach a growing number of students. Since becoming the president of AKA, Tara has taken greatest pleasure in helping to realize the dreams of many students in achieving their own Black Belt and many of whom have gone on to assist yet more students. It is worth mentioning here that many karate players of the state have already landed government jobs, especially in state police, army and paramilitary forces (ITBP).
Meanwhile, AKA general secretary L Marik and other executive members of the association highly praised the achievement of Tara. They hoped that his achievement would encourage the entire karate family of Arunachal Pradesh to work with more dedication for further development of the sport in the state.
Winkrock and YUVA provide livelihood to villagers

TAWANG, Mar 17: The Winrock International India and YUVA Arunachal conducted an eight days survey and awareness campaign on mushroom cultivation and horticulture in various remote villages of Tawang district recently.

villagers about the need of mushroom and horticulture development in the district

The survey team included Chombay, Winrock programme officers Monalisa Sen and K Jayahari. The team members also constituted committee a committe in each village for effective functioning of both mushroom and horticulture projects being sponsored by ICICI bank and NABARD.
With the implementation of these projects, the NGOs endeavor to provide livelihood, create aforestation, encourage farming and increase employment opportunities in villages.
Under the ICICI Bank sponsored project, mushroom cultivation centre will be created
at villages like Shogtsen, Muchut, Lhou, Gortsam, Sakpret, Ungkhar-
Rs 1.20 lakh would be sanctioned against each centre for construction of mushroom shelter and there will be additional amount of Rs 45,000 for labour wages. Training and implementation of the schemes are being taken up by Winrock and YUVA across all those villages.
‘Desecration of Mahatma, D. Ering statues a big insult to nation’
ITANAGAR, Mar 17: Lok Sabha general secretary (admin.) for Eastern Parliament, Arunachal Pradesh Okom Tamuk has demanded the Ministry of Home Affairs and the State Government to initiate action against the culprits involved in the desecration of statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Daying Ering under Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971.
“It is a big insult to the entire nation,” the Youth Congress leader said while demanding the state government to punish the culprits under the Act. He also urged the state government to depute a team to Pasighat to investigate the matter thoroughly.
While demanding the police and district administration to be impartial in conducting the investigation, he appealed to one and all, especially Bogong Banggo and Bosing Banggo people to cooperate with the district administration and police to nab the culprits soon.
The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 is a law prohibiting desecration of or insult to the country's national symbols, including the flag, constitution, and anthem.
Teachers urged to impart quality education
ITANAGAR, Mar 17: The Director of Elementary Education (DEE) Bodong Yirang sought full commitment from the teaching community to discharge their duty.
